Local Ride Share Service Adapts During Coronavirus Pandemic
SendaRide offers special care and transportation services for medical appointments and senior citizens.
In reaction to the COVID-19 outbreak, the company is taking extra precautions to keep customers safe.
“We began implementing all of those precautions, and our drivers have hand sanitizer that we’ve provided. Disinfecting wipes have been provided. Gloves have been provided,” SendaRide CEO Laura Fleet said.
In addition to sending rides, Fleet has created the Send The Love mission as well.
SendaRide is now emphasizing courier services, delivering meals medicine and more.
“It made sense to kind of pivot to what the community needs at this time, which is delivering groceries, delivering prescriptions, delivering medical supplies. So, we kind of are appealing to people’s ability to help others,” Fleet said.
When deliveries are made, packages are left on the front porch by SendaRide employees.
Fleet is also partnering with other local businesses.
SendaRide is providing transportation for the all new CityBox, an Oklahoma business that sources locally to deliver experiences in a box.
Fleet is reaching out to other organizations too, offering to donate rides to blood banks, and grocery stores for the special hours.
“We’ve reached out to as many of them as we can to provide the transportation for those senior citizens,” Fleet said.
Information can be found on the company’s website, app or by calling 1-800-731-1885.
“If there is anything we can do to give back to the community that has embraced this Oklahoma startup, we open our arms to do that,” Fleet said.
